Meet the 2019 Emerging Leaders in Healthcare Marketing

As illus­trat­ed by the 2019 Emerg­ing Lead­ers in Health­care Mar­ket­ing, the future of our dis­ci­pline is incred­i­bly bright. Get to know this year’s win­ners as described by the col­leagues and peers who nom­i­nat­ed them.

Christine Albert, Senior Vice President of Marketing and Communications

LCMC Health

Chris­tine pro­vides strate­gic lead­er­ship for mar­ket­ing plan­ning and oper­a­tions across the entire LCMC Health net­work, suc­cess­ful­ly lead­ing growth and inno­va­tion through the cre­ation of bold and cre­ative mar­ket­ing, brand­ing and com­mu­ni­ca­tions ini­tia­tives that ele­vate LCMC Health as a sys­tem known for pro­vid­ing that lit­tle some­thing extra when it comes to per­son­al­ized care. Of impor­tant note, Chris­tine recent­ly led a two-year rebrand­ing ini­tia­tive for LCMC Health which launched May 14, 2019, a bold and inno­v­a­tive project that “flipped the script” for the health system’s voice, brand and cul­ture, includ­ing a tran­si­tion to new logos for the sys­tem and hospitals.

 

Sarah Boggan, Acute Services Marketing Director

Banner Health

Sarah has tak­en this role on and, in less than a year, has cre­at­ed strong con­nec­tions with strate­gic leads over core inpa­tient ser­vice lines. Sarah has launched an influ­encer cam­paign at Ban­ner Health’s cam­pus in Tuc­son for mater­ni­ty ser­vices, a very suc­cess­ful mam­mog­ra­phy cam­paign in the Phoenix and Fort Collins, Col­orado mar­kets, and a high per­form­ing cam­paign in Phoenix for orthopedics.

 

 

Stacy Covitz, Vice President of Marketing and Public Relations

Methodist Health System

Sta­cy is an expe­ri­enced com­mu­ni­ca­tions and PR pro­fes­sion­al who brought her TV and media tal­ents to the Dallas/Fort Worth health­care indus­try five years ago. Since then, she’s served in a vari­ety of roles and works dai­ly to pro­mote Methodist Health Sys­tem in a way that should make her hos­pi­tal lead­ers proud. She is con­stant­ly striv­ing to be expand her knowl­edge and improve upon her teams’ suc­cess­es. Her ener­gy and pas­sion for her work moti­vate all those around her!

 

 

Matthew Hollenkamp, Vice President of Marketing/Communications and PR

Matt is an award-win­ning mar­ket­ing and sales exec­u­tive with an incred­i­bly rare com­bi­na­tion of expe­ri­ence: 17+ years cre­at­ing, revi­tal­iz­ing and build­ing busi­ness­es across con­sumer pack­aged goods, B2B, health care and non­prof­it industries.

Before join­ing St. Eliz­a­beth Health­care, Matt spent almost a decade at Proc­ter & Gam­ble where he was con­sis­tent­ly a top-rat­ed brand leader.

 

 

 

Patrick Knauer, Service Line Marketing

Director–Ambulatory

Banner Health

Patrick has trans­formed the team’s approach to dri­ving con­ver­sions to Ban­ner Urgent Care loca­tions. With his lead­er­ship, the team has seen cost per acqui­si­tion drop more than 50% year over year, and con­ver­sions have increased more than 150% since 2018. Patrick is a steady leader and an amaz­ing client-lead for our inter­nal stake­hold­ers. He has also lead a part­ner­ship with a pro­gram called PAL, which allows chil­dren with autism and oth­er spec­trum dis­or­ders to get a bet­ter under­stand­ing of what to expect in urgent care before they arrive.

 

 

Caitlin McCann, Vice President of Marketing and Communications

Mohawk Valley Health System

Caitlin has flaw­less­ly dri­ven com­mu­ni­ca­tions at Mohawk Val­ley Health Sys­tem through major tran­si­tion­al peri­ods. The health sys­tem cur­rent­ly has three hos­pi­tal cam­pus­es in the Mohawk Val­ley, 21 pri­ma­ry and spe­cial­ty care offices, a man­aged Med­ic­aid insur­ance pro­gram, and a con­tin­u­ing care rehab and nurs­ing cen­ter. She leads a team of mar­ket­ing and com­mu­ni­ca­tions pro­fes­sion­als to dri­ve con­tent in tra­di­tion­al and dig­i­tal ways. She is also the dri­ving force in strate­gic mes­sag­ing for the new Region­al Med­ical Cen­ter that will be com­plet­ed in 2022. The cen­ter will be the newest health sys­tem in New York state.

 

Melissa Reeves, System Director of Well-Being and Engagement

CommonSpirit Health

Melis­sa is pas­sion­ate about cre­at­ing, devel­op­ing and imple­ment­ing holis­tic roadmaps for ben­e­fit and well­ness pro­grams that deliv­er con­tin­ued employ­ee health improve­ment across phys­i­cal, men­tal and spir­i­tu­al areas. At Com­mon­Spir­it Health (for­mer­ly Catholic Health Ini­tia­tives), she has suc­cess­ful­ly devel­oped a cohe­sive brand to show­case the total rewards phi­los­o­phy sup­port­ed by improv­ing the employ­ee expe­ri­ence and inte­grat­ing employ­ee-based sto­ries through­out com­mu­ni­ca­tions. Her many achieve­ments include increas­ing well­ness pro­gram par­tic­i­pa­tion sig­nif­i­cant­ly by 66% for employ­ees and 93% for spous­es in one year.

 

Emily Renzi, Marketing Manager

Augusta University Health

Emi­ly works tire­less­ly to plan and exe­cute mar­ket­ing strate­gies for Augus­ta Uni­ver­si­ty Health, col­lab­o­rat­ing with her part­ners and tech stack to cre­ate and exe­cute data-dri­ven strate­gies that dri­ve health sys­tem growth and engage and edu­cate the com­mu­ni­ty. Hav­ing recent­ly com­plet­ed her MBA with two young chil­dren at home, Emi­ly is tru­ly a super­woman and does it all with a smile on her face and a con­ta­gious­ly great attitude.

 

 

Tara Raeber Vail, Vice President of Marketing and Communications

Ascension

As a mar­ket­ing and com­mu­ni­ca­tions leader for Ascen­sion, the nation’s lead­ing Catholic health­care sys­tem, Tara dri­ves research-based strate­gic mar­ket­ing and adver­tis­ing, con­sumer expe­ri­ence, brand engage­ment and busi­ness devel­op­ment. She has been instru­men­tal in influ­enc­ing con­sumer choice in health care through per­cep­tion, rep­u­ta­tion, expe­ri­ence and rela­tion­ship build­ing. Tara has 20 years of expe­ri­ence in mar­ket­ing, com­mu­ni­ca­tions and pub­lic affairs strat­e­gy, and her roles include serv­ing as strate­gist at a top inter­na­tion­al marketing/communications firm and lead­ing gov­ern­ment rela­tions and advo­ca­cy com­mu­ni­ca­tions at a lead­ing vol­un­tary health non­prof­it organization.

Stephanie Wagoner, Manager of Marketing and Community Relations

Washington Health System

Through the Tell Us Your Sto­ry pro­gram and oth­er ini­tia­tives, Stephanie pro­motes a cul­ture of sto­ry­telling that has engaged and empow­ered the staff to share patient sto­ries and human­ize the Wash­ing­ton Health Sys­tem brand. She is a strong leader and a vision­ary for cre­at­ing con­tent that aligns with con­sumer inter­ests. Among many oth­er achieve­ments, Stephanie won the 2017 ATHENA Young Pro­fes­sion­al Lead­er­ship Award and was a fea­tured speak­er at the 2019 Mid-Atlantic Soci­ety for Health­care Strat­e­gy and Mar­ket Devel­op­ment Conference.
